Pender Bay Escape
Category: Campground, Fishing
July to October each year thousands of humpback whales pass through Pender Bay on their migratory path, taking refuge briefly in the bay .
In 2006 this site was chosen to complete 8 years of shore-based humpback whale surveys. In a separate satellite snapshot survey, Pender Bay spatial distribution was discovered to be 5 whales per square km.
Since the completion of these surveys the Indigenous owners have opened the location to visitors. Enjoy secluded or family caravan hub, ocean frontage unpowered bush camping, stunning lookouts and walks, beach parking, boat ramp, free educational survey data (bring memory stick).
No pets, no drones. Children under 12 free of charge.
