Beagle Bay and the Sacred Heart Church

Category: Places to Eat, Supplies/Fuel

Beagle Bay is the traditional home to the Nyul Nyul people and was first established as a catholic mission by French Trappist Monks around 1890.
Today it is famous for its white, heritage listed, Sacred Heart Church which was built by German Pallottine priests and local indigenous people in 1918.
Modelled on a black and white photograph of a German village church, the inside shimmers with the mother of pearl shell that decorates the walls, floors and most notably the altar.

Open from March to October. Church donations are requested - payable directly at the church (cash or EFTPOS).
Township entry fees ($15) are payable at the store.
